At the MWC 2017, Barcelona Lenovo owned Motorola revealed their two new devices Moto G5 and G5 Plus the 5th installment in Moto G series. As Moto G is the most popular series among all the Motorola devices all Moto lovers were waiting for the precedure of Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus which were launched last year.
As Lenovo owned Motorola gained their popularity back since the launch of Moto G series this were the most awaited phones for the Motorola lovers as the Moto G series is most iconic and popular series. Ever since Moto is called Moto by Lenovo the many things has changed. Also this is much needed launch for Moto to compete against buzz created by Redmi Note 4. As Note 4 is providing same features in lower price. Only price range can only be issue for Moto G5 Plus.
Let’s see full specs of both the phones.
1. Body specs and Design:-
As we seen Moto G4 and G4 Plus many things has changed in design aspects of phone. Lenovo coutinued this thing with Moto G5 too giving it metal unibody which looks classy and makes the phone looks premium. Phone is extremely sleek and feels good in hand. For screen protection both the phones has got Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the front. But the phone is missing IP protection which was highlight of Moto G3. No IP protection means no water and dust resistance. As far as displa is concerned Moto G5 has got 5.0 inch display and G5 plus has got 5.2 inch 1920×1080 pixel display at 441ppi pixel density. Display is full HD and capacitive screen provides good colours and good viewing experience.
2. CPU and GPU:-
Moto G5 is powered by 1.4 GHz octa core Snapdragon 430 processor and comes in 2/3 GB of ram which is quite enough for multitasking. It also comes with Adreno 505 graphics processor. On the other hand processor of Moto G5 Plus is clocked at 2.0 GHz with 8 cores sporting Snapdragon 625 processor and Adreno 506 graphics processor. And 4 GB of ram present in G5 plus ensures the good experience in daily use with above features.
Moto G5 packs in with 2800 mAh Li-ion removable battery which pretty disappointing as in today’s world battery performance of the phone matters the most. Same with G5 plus it comes with 3000 mAh Li-ion non-removable battery. Though Moto claims that both the devices will give standby for a day but you can only expect that much. Only plus point with both the phones is they supports Turbo Charging which pretty good.
Both the phones are Dual SIM Smartphones, and connectivity options on both the phones includes GPS, HotSpot, NFC,Wifi,Bluetooth. Also they have two separate sim slots no hybrid type of sim slot which is good too. But Moto G5 does not support the NFC. All other specs in terms of connectivity are same in the phones.
Moto G5 comes in 2/3 GB ram variants and 16/32 GB of storage options respectively. Providing more options in big brother G5 Plus comes with 2/3/4 GB of ram variants and 32/64 GB of inbuilt storage. Also both the phones have dedicated slot for microSD by which storage can be further expanded upto 256 GB.
Both the phones Moto G5 and G5 plus are running on Android Nougat 7.0 stock Android with almost zero bloatwares. This is not latest version of Android as Google announced devloper preview of Android version 8.0 there is no update available for phones to Android version 7.1. But you can expect os upgrades for both the phones in future which is for Moto is well known providing updates to phones.
Coming to the camera both the phones differs in camera specs. Moto G5 comes with 13 MP rear camera which is having aperture f/2.0 also it comes with features like phase detection, autofocus, geo-tagging, face detection, etc. Rear camera can shoot 1080p videos. On the front G5 sports 5 MP shooter with aperture f/2.2 with all basic features.
In the Moto G5 Plus you will see downgrade in megapixel of camera as it is having 12 MP camera with aperture f/1.7.It also comes with features like geo-tagging, autofocus, panorama mode, etc. But the rear camera of G5 Plus can shoot 4k videos. Front camera of both the phones is same. Though downgrade of camera pixels looks weird but you can surely expect better camera performance than G5.
